What do we need?

We are looking to recruit an experienced Family Solicitor to join our Liverpool team, based at Walker House. This is a key role managing your own caseload of public family law matters, including care proceedings and related children matters, while delivering a professional, responsive and high-quality legal service to clients. You will provide clear, practical and empathetic advice, supporting children and families through challenging circumstances while ensuring the highest standards of client care.
 
Overall Purpose:
 

Delivering a professional, responsive and high-quality legal service to clients involved in public family law matters, ensuring full compliance with the Firm's policies and procedures and all relevant regulatory requirements. To act as an ambassador for the Firm at all times, actively promoting its values and commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of children and families. 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Manage your own caseload of public family law matters, including care proceedings and related children matters. 
  • Provide clear, practical and empathetic advice to clients, particularly those in vulnerable circumstances. 
  • Prepare applications, witness statements, court bundles and other legal documentation to a high standard. 
  • Conduct advocacy at court hearings where appropriate and within the scope of experience and qualification. 
  • Liaise effectively with counsel, experts, external agencies and other professionals involved in proceedings. 
  • Contribute towards the effective management of risk through excellent file management and adherence to regulatory and legal aid requirements. 
  • Ensure that the Firm's policies and procedures and those of relevant regulatory bodies are complied with at all times. 
  • Perform any other duties as requested by the Head of Department or management team.

Key Experience & Skills:

  • Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive (CILEX). 
  • Proven experience handling public children law matters. 
  • Experience managing a demanding and sensitive caseload. 
  • Children Panel accreditation or other relevant accreditation would be advantageous.  
  • Experience working with vulnerable clients and external agencies. 
  • Strong organisational and file management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities. 
  • Empathetic, client-focused approach when supporting individuals and families through difficult circumstances. 
  • Proactive and self-motivated with a commitment to continuous professional development. 
  • Strong team-working and collaboration skills.
