Overview

The group, consisting of bereaved family members, has come to seek justice in the names of the loved ones they have lost due to Covid-19. They have been campaigning for answers and accountability, emphasising the need for lessons to be learned to save lives. Joining this group is important if you, too, have lost a loved one or loved ones to Covid-19. You will be able to campaign alongside the group and take part in the important work they do, like fighting for a statutory inquiry.

If you have lost a loved one to Covid-19, you are invited to join the group.

By coming together to form the Covid-19 Bereaved Families for Justice group, they have been able to collectively apply pressure on the government to launch a statutory inquiry. This means that the inquiry must be governed by the Inquiries Act 2005 and has the power to compel witnesses (including the Prime Minister) to attend and answer under oath. It also allows for Covid Inquiry core participation. This means that you, the bereaved family members demanding justice, will be included in the Inquiry as a core participant, which gives you the right to full disclosure and to assign legal representation. The group are intending to participate in the inquiry to demand answers and prevent the same mistakes from ever being made again.

Instructing legal representation is the next big step for the bereaved families. Instructing legal representation means that you will have a voice at the table and the opportunity to be fully represented through the entire inquiry.

You can find more information on instructing free legal representation here.
