Overall purpose:  

To support the Family Law team in delivering a high-quality, compassionate, and client-focused legal service, assisting with the effective management of family matters from instruction through to resolution. The Paralegal will play a key role in progressing cases efficiently, maintaining excellent standards of client care, and ensuring full compliance with the Firm’s policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Acting as a professional ambassador for the Firm, the role contributes to the team’s success by promoting the Firm’s values, reputation, and commitment to making a positive difference for clients during often sensitive and challenging circumstances.
 
Key requirements:
 
  • Maintain up-to-date case management systems to allow the team to find and use documents easily and efficiently and assist generally with document management.
  • Perform any other duties as requested by team leader or management staff.
  • Assist the team by preparing routine documents or basic legal documents for Lawyer approval.
  • Provide an element of chargeable legal services.
  • Assist on cases by carrying out research, drafting documentation, liaising with clients and third parties, and providing first-rate legal advice to clients.
  • Ensure that the firm’s policies and procedures and those laid out by regulatory bodies such as the Solicitors Regulation Authority are complied with fully at all times.
  • Contribute towards the effective management of risk by carrying out regular risk assessments on all matters, efficient file management, and by providing excellent client care.

What we’re looking for:

  • A minimum of 12 months’ experience as a Paralegal within a Family Law team is desirable.
  • Ability to draft basic legal documents and prepare bundles for hearings.
  • Familiarity with case management systems and effective file organisation.
  • Strong client communication skills and experience liaising with third parties.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills to handle multiple cases.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Empathy and professionalism when dealing with sensitive family matters.
  • Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office and case management software.
