Overall purpose of the role

To deliver a professional, responsive and high quality legal service to clients within the Clinical Negligence team, managing a caseload of Claimant Clinical Negligence matters. The role holder will ensure excellent standards of client care, compliance with regulatory and firm wide requirements, and will always act as a professional ambassador for Jackson Lees Group.

Key responsibilities

  • To manage your own caseload of Clinical Negligence matters of varying complexity and value, taking full responsibility for the day-to-day conduct of files from instruction through to conclusion.
  • To undertake legal research, draft correspondence, pleadings and other legal documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with procedural and regulatory requirements.
  • To communicate effectively with clients, Counsel, the Courts, Medical Experts and other third parties, providing clear advice, managing expectations and delivering a high standard of client care.
  • To attend client meetings, conferences with Counsel and, where appropriate, court hearings, ensuring accurate records are maintained on the case management system.
  • To proactively manage deadlines, limitation dates and key milestones, ensuring matters progress efficiently and risks are appropriately identified and managed.
  • To maintain accurate, up-to-date and well-organised files in compliance with Money Laundering, Lexcel, SRA and firm-wide policies and procedures.
  • To contribute to file audits, risk assessments and corrective actions, ensuring files always remain audit ready.
  • To support the wider team through collaboration, knowledge sharing and mentoring where appropriate.
  • To carry out any other duties reasonably requested by the Team Leader or management team.

What we’re looking for

  • Qualified Solicitor or CILEX with ideally 2-6 years’ PQE in Clinical Negligence. 
  • Proven experience of managing your own Clinical Negligence caseload, including matters of varying complexity and value. 
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a confident and client-focused approach. 
  • High levels of empathy, professionalism and discretion when dealing with clients and sensitive matters. 
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to compliance, risk management and quality standards. 
  • Competent IT skills, including experience using case management systems. 
  • A genuine passion for Clinical Negligence work and delivering excellent client outcomes.
