The words that everyone dreads to hear, “You’ve got cancer”. You see and hear the words coming out of the doctor’s mouth. You’re probably that numb and frightened that you don’t take in anything else for the rest of the appointment. Then the questions: How has this happened? How will I cope? How do I tell my family? What will life be like for them if I die?

Now imagine finding out that your cancer should have been spotted a long time ago. Somebody didn’t look at the test results carefully enough. Somebody missed the early signs and didn’t order any tests at all. You’re probably even more frightened, and angry. Does the delay mean I’m going to die? How long will I have left with my family? How quickly can I start my treatment? How can something like that get missed?

Now imagine that you’ve been told, years later, that you never actually had cancer at all. The operation was unnecessary. The worry, the grief, the stress, the sleepless nights, all unnecessary. Somebody didn’t look at the scan results carefully enough in the first place. It wasn’t cancer after all. It was just a cyst. Only nobody told you at the time. You were told the operation was successful. You lived with the worry for years that the cancer would come back. How could nobody tell me? How could they let me live with that worry, for all this time?

These are just some of the circumstances where we at Jackson Lees have acted for people in clinical negligence claims. Sadly, these are the sorts of cases that we come across too often. We have helped people who have gone through more invasive treatment than they should have needed, or have had complications that they shouldn’t have had. In the worst cases, we have successfully acted for the unfortunate few whose cancer has been missed for so long that their condition wasn’t curable by the time it was spotted.

Around 1 in 3 people in the UK will develop some form of cancer during their lifetime. A great many will have their illness spotted at the right time and will have successful treatment. We’re here to try and help the people who are not so fortunate.

We can’t imagine how hard it has been, and will continue to be, for cancer sufferers and their families. What we can do is try and help you find answers. If the evidence points to a clinical negligence claim, we’ll pursue it for you. That could mean compensation for what you’ve lost, whether that’s measured in quality of life, or in years, or both. We will treat you like a human being, with sensitivity and respect. You’ll always know what’s going on in your case, and why. We’re here to help.

Our team has the experience to understand what you are going through. We have a large team dealing with medical negligence and cancer misdiagnosis claims.. We appreciate what motivates patients to claim, the suffering they go through and their needs.
