On 21st November 1974 bombs were planted in two busy pubs in Central Birmingham. The bombs exploded around 8.20pm when the public houses were full of young people looking forward to a night out and those who had made a start on their Christmas shopping after work. In total, 220 people were injured and 21 people tragically died. It was one of the deadliest attacks in Great Britain.
Arrests swiftly followed resulting in a notorious miscarriage of justice - the incarceration of the Birmingham Six - but to this day no one has been held accountable. 44 years later we, Broudie Jackson Canter, are representing two bereaved families as they desperately search for answers. Nicola Brook, one of the solicitors from our specialist Inquests & Inquiries team, is acting on behalf of the families. She said:
Everyone knows about the Birmingham Six and the miscarriage of justice, yet the victims of the attack seem to have been all but forgotten. The families of the bereaved have waited a long 44 years for an inquest. They just want answers and for the perpetrators to be brought to justice for the attack.
