Jackson Lees Groups’ very own Andrew Holroyd, it’s longest-serving solicitor and head of risk and compliance, was part of a very special event that celebrated 200 years of the Law Society.

The lunch, which took place on the 9th of September, brought together 20 of its past presidents, which included Andrew, who was president of the Liverpool Law Society from 1993 to 1994 and President of the Law Society of England & Wales from 2007 to 2008. The dinner marks one of the rare times in the society’s history that so many Law Society National Presidents have ever got together under one roof.
Andrew, Head of Risk and Compliance at Jackson Lees Group and MAPD, said:
“The conversation round the lunch table was as good as ever. Discussions centred round fights with the Government over the introduction of the Legal Services Act and Legal Aid. The Law Society provides a real opportunity to meet and talk with government and other parties in the legal world and society at large, about issues which affect the everyday lives of lawyers in the UK and thereby the public they serve.
“The Law Society was around 135,000 in number when I was President in 2008 but the figure is now 210,000 - with England and Wales solicitors operating around the world. It was a great privilege to lead the Solicitor’s profession.
“There is still a huge job to be done to make sure that our legal system maintains its reputation and pre-eminence despite all the challenges we face. Here’s to the work of the Society and its Presidents over the generations to come.”
In August, Andrew celebrated 50 years of service with the Jackson Lees Group, MAPD and its predecessor firms.
