This week, to celebrate one year of the Jackson Lees Training Academy, it's LearnFest!

We asked some of our people questions about learning. Here's what Chris Topping, Director & Head of our Actions Against the Police department, had to say:

  1. Do you think it is important that we keep learning? Why?

There is never a point in life where we could honestly say we know everything so continuing to learn is a key part of being a rounded person. We should not close our minds to new things nor believe that we have all the answers – the world is a fascinating place where if we are willing to be challenged by new ideas and experiences our lives are made all the richer.

  1. What is the most valuable lesson you have ever learnt?

Good grief!! I think that if were to live by the principle that we should treat others as we would want to be treated then the world would be a much kinder place. No one should think themselves superior to anyone else because of their education, background, ethnicity. Each person is unique and should be treated with respect.

  1. If you could give your 18 year old self a piece of advice, what would it be?

Take the chance to go abroad and live in another culture if it comes your way. Indeed do everything that you can to get such a chance as it may not come your way again later in life.
