What do we need?

Due to continuous growth in the Jackson Lees Group we are currently recruiting for a Costs Lawyer/Costs Draftsperson for our Billing Team to be based in our Liverpool Office. You will be part of our in-house team which services various legal departments across the Group dealing with a variety of case work for our Clinical Negligence, Court of Protection, Civil Liberties, General Litigation, Family and Immigration teams.  

What do you need?

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a legal costs role, preferably Claimant-centric.
  • Ability to work under own initiative and manage time and priorities effectively
  • Proficient with Cost Master and Proclaim.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence to engage with internal/external stakeholders
  • Passion, drive and approachable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide and effective, timely and efficient service to firm’s clients in accordance with department SLAs
  • Manage own caseload from start to finish
  • Undertake the following;-
    • Preparation of Bills of Costs (including electronic bills).
    • Preparation of Costs Budgets
    • Preparing Replies/Points of Dispute
    • Negotiations
    • Advocacy (desirable)
    • Ensure that personal and department KPIs and Minimum Requirements are achieved.
    • To ensure that legal and cost knowledge/ skills are kept up to date and that CPD training (where applicable) is completed.
