How can I help?

I am a Covid Caseworker on the team, which I joined in July. I am extremely determined to aid the team in reviewing evidence related to the Government’s decision making during the pandemic so that we can support counsel in their questioning of key witnesses. I endeavour to work hard at the task ahead of us so that the bereaved families we are doing this work for may find some element of justice and closure. There are many threads for us to pull regarding the way people’s loved ones were treated by the government, and I am to do everything that I can to ensure people’s experiences are taken into account.

A little about me

I am very driven by human rights and equality as I believe that everyone deserves to live with dignity and have their human experience validated by the society in which we live. To that end, I have honed my interests, academically and personally, on the ways in which the state exerts power over individuals and communities through its various institutions, such as health, psychiatry, and social care. These are particular areas that I enjoy researching in my own time.

I thoroughly appreciate interacting with others and hearing about their personal journeys as there is always something we can learn from each other.

My experience

I completed my Law degree at University of Liverpool from 2018-2021, achieving a first. I decided to stay at University a year longer to undertake a Masters in Law and Healthcare; I focused my dissertation on criticisms of the Mental Health Act 1983 and case law under the Act. Before joining the team, I previously worked at a local law firm where I handled my own case load of hundreds of claims which meant that I built up skills communicating with clients about their claim over the phone.  Prior to that role, I worked as a research assistant to a professor at the University of Liverpool. This role involved reviewing large amounts of case law and legal literature relating to women and Human Rights Law in the UK. I also have a lot of experience in hospitality and so have built up a range of skills.
