Elderly Neglect: Physical Abuse

Physical Abuse usually means a physical assault; for example, where someone intentionally uses force on an elderly person which results in an injury, pain or impairment, for instance, slapping, hitting, kicking, pushing or the use of inappropriate restraint. However, Physical Abuse is not limited to obvious physical assault and could extend to the inappropriate use or prescription of medication.

Physical Abuse will always be a police matter and should be reported immediately. Unfortunately, it is not always possible for the abuser to be prosecuted as, for instance, in some cases there may be insufficient evidence.

Whether or not the abuser was prosecuted for their crimes, the victim may still be able to claim compensation where they have suffered a Personal Injury as a result of the abuse.

The team at Jackson Lees Solicitors are specialists in Elder Abuse compensation claims dealing with these matters with the sensitivity and understanding. They will be able to advise you of your options and guide you through the processes involved.
